Federal Skilled Trade (FST)

The Federal Skilled Trade Class also falls under the Economic Immigration category which is designed to bring Immigrants to Canada who can establish themself economically in Canada.

The minimum eligibility requirements for this program are:

1.) Occupation :

Work must be in a NOC code that begins with  72, 73, 82, 92, 632, or 633. Applicants must show that they performed the duties set out in the lead statement of the occupational description in the NOC. This includes all the essential duties and most of the main duties listed.

2.) Work experience:

The applicant must have obtained 24 months of qualified full-time work experience in the skilled trade in the last five years.

2 years start counting after the worker became qualified to work in that trade in the place where the work took place IF it is a regulated/licensed trade occupation

3.) Language Test Result :

The applicant must meet the minimum language score of CLB 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for reading and writing.

4.) Settlement funds :

You must show that you have enough money for you and your family to settle in Canada.

5.) Offer of Employment or Certificate of Qualification:

Applicant must have an either:

a.) valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year from 2 employers in Canada (supported by a new positive LMIA),  or

b.) certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority
